Dawn, 28 Munychion, 1111BC:
Odysseus has just addressed us all, outlining his plans for approaching the inhabitants of this island. He plans to take himself and the crewmen of his ship (that's me!) to find out about the people who live on this island while the rest of the fleet stay with the ships. When we approach the inhabitants, Odysseus says, we will know if they are "savage and violent, and without justice, or hospitable to strangers and with minds that are godly" (His words, not mine - I could only wish to convey my thoughts as articulately as the heroic Odysseus).
As I am taking part in Odysseus' journey to meet the people on this island, I can only hope for my sake that they are friendly!

About Me

- I am a faithful follower of the quick-witted Odysseus and am currently sailing home with him and the rest of his crew on the way to our hometown, Ithaca. For twenty gruelling years I fought under Odysseus' inspirational command in the great battle of Troy. I was badly wounded by that Trojan dog Hector during the battle but Odysseus' rousing words motivated me to return to the battlefield. His leadership kept me alive in a place where many others died. Now that the battle is finally over and Zeus has granted us victory, it is time to return home. I aim to take advantage of this new 'blog' technology (no doubt invented by that crafty Hephaestus) with the aim of informing you, dear reader, of what will undoubtedly be a smooth journey home.
